Looking Under the Hood

Designing New School Models

Dear Colleagues:

Last week, we hosted the
National Summit on K-12 Competency-Based Education, where 100 innovators came together to engage in deep dialogue along four key issues in competency education: equity, quality, meeting students where they are, and taking the long view on systems change and policy to support competency education.

In advance of the National CBE Summit, we released the following reports to share our thinking on these issues:

1. An Introduction to the National Summit on K-12 Competency-Based Education

2. In Pursuit of Equality: A Framework for Equity Strategies in Competency-Based Education

3. Fit for Purpose: Taking the Long View on Systems Change and Policy to Support Competency Education

4. In Search of Efficacy: Defining the Elements of Quality in a Competency-Based System

5. Meeting Students Where They Are

We are publishing a blog series highlighting key insights from these reports. You can start reading the series
here.

CompetencyWorks is now publishing a five-part blog series highlighting competency-based designs in Cleveland Metropolitan Schools. Learn how Cleveland is advancing teaching and learning in the first blog in this series, and stay tuned for more.
