Dear Colleagues:

New Hampshire’s Performance Assessment of Competency Education (PACE) program is showing early improvements in the Smarter Balanced assessments over the past two years, with significant improvements for students with disabilities, when compared with non-PACE districts. Read more about these early student achievement gains
in this blog.

Each year, CompetencyWorks reflects on the field of competency education and identifies emerging issues. Below is a blog series highlighting some of our findings from this year:

  • Where We Started and Where We Are Now
  • Organizations and Literature
  • Lessons Learned
  • Emerging Issues
  • Future Action

Attendee registration is open for the iNACOL Symposium on October 23-25 in Orlando. The Symposium features the best strand of sessions and workshops relating to competency education. You can register here. Here are two great opportunities to meet other leaders and experts in competency education during the iNACOL Symposium:

  • Monday, October 23, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Connect and network with colleagues at the CompetencyWorks Meet Up during the President’s Welcome Reception. Join us at the CompetencyWorks Lounge in the Exhibit Hall (near the main entrance from the lobby).
  • Wednesday, October 25, 4:00-5:00 p.m. – Attend a Meet the Experts Campfire Session with Susan Patrick and Chris Sturgis on Where Do We Go From Here: Reflections on Future Directions of Competency Education. Join us outdoors at the Crescent Terrace to explore highlights from the National Summit on K-12 Competency-Based Education and our own personal reflections on the future directions for competency education.
