Symposium Content Selection Announcements Coming Soon
Content Selection Announcements coming soon

The iNACOL Symposium Program Committee and iNACOL staff have reviewed close to 800 proposals for sessions at the 2019 iNACOL Symposium, to be held Oct. 28-31 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. After many difficult decisions, the team has begun finalizing the program. Status notifications will be sent on Monday, May 6, 2019.

As noted during the RFP process earlier this year, the Program Committee gives priority to proposals that provide engaging and interactive learning opportunities, modeling personalized, competency-based learning environments, drawing on participant experiences and promoting dialogue and exchange. This year, we also encouraged, and received, high-quality proposals covering specific nuances of implementation that dig below the surface and unpack rather than being very general in nature.

Beginning June 1, accepted speakers can access our system to update their sessions. Waitlisted speakers will be notified as space becomes available. Registration for the Symposium is now open, with more than 200 sessions in 25 tracks planned. For answers to common questions about the Symposium, see our FAQ page, or get in touch.

Webinar Series on Next Generation Professional Learning

In a series of three webinars, iNACOL has partnered with 2Revolutions to explore the future of educator learning. The last webinar is scheduled for May 9, 2019, at 3 pm Eastern. Register to attend.

Throughout the interactive series, we've investigated the current state of teacher professional learning and unpacked why it needs to change to align with transformations in student learning. We've examined policies and trends shaping the future of educator learning and envisioned what a next generation professional learning model could look like. In addition to breakout rooms in which participants could talk and brainstorm with each other, the second webinar in the series introduced Learn Next, a free toolbox of courses, playlists, learning progressions and other professional development resources.

In the final installment, we will cover the policy context of educator credentialing before exploring a case study of a new competency-based educator learning program. To see the past webinars in this series and other iNACOL learning sessions, explore our Resources page.

States Rethinking Accountability to Support Student-Centered Learning and Innovation

States are using a variety of approaches to innovation in accountability systems. Some are taking a broader perspective to redefine success and rethink measures and school report cards. Some are providing user-friendly tools so that parents can explore school data to find the information that matters most to them. States are also changing the systems of assessments that provide student achievement data for the accountability systems, and some states are conducting accountability innovation pilots.
