In addition to Iowa<\/a>, two other states are releasing reports regarding how their states can move forward (I’ll add the links as soon as I can):<\/a><\/p>\n Awarding Credit to Support Student Learning: A Report to the Governor<\/em><\/a> recommends how Pennsylvania<\/strong> can develop credit flexibility. \u00a0It outlines parameters and principles of a credit flexibility policy to be managed at the local level. There are some interesting building blocks in Pennsylvania including Keystone exams that are required end-of course exams in high school. Competency education doesn\u2019t require end-of-course exams but it is certainly one way to maintain quality control. In addition, the Pennsylvania Department of Education is researching an alternative flex-credit program for CTE.<\/p>\n The Kentucky<\/strong> Department of Education is releasing Competency-based Education: \u00a0Helping All Kentucky Students Succeed<\/em>.<\/a>\u00a0 Kentucky, part of the Innovation Lab Network supported by the Council of Chief State School Officers, convened more than 150 multi-sector participants.\u00a0 The report explores why competency education is valuable, highlights districts and schools moving in the direction towards competency-based models, and responds to all those frequently asked questions (a great resources for any other state or district preparing materials).<\/p>\n Both of these states were part of the National Governors Association<\/a>\u2019s initiative on \u00a0Awarding Credit to Support Student Learning with the support of the Mott Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_relevanssi_hide_post":"","_relevanssi_hide_content":"","_relevanssi_pin_for_all":"","_relevanssi_pin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_unpin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_include_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_exclude_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_no_append":"","_relevanssi_related_not_related":"","_relevanssi_related_posts":"","_relevanssi_noindex_reason":"","mapsvg_location":""},"legacy_category":[],"issue":[377,392],"location":[],"class_list":["post-2676","cw_post","type-cw_post","status-publish","hentry","issue-state-policy","issue-develop-educator-capacity"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
