The best way is to\u00a0learn from other districts. And the best way to find others is through networks.<\/p>\n<p>There are several networks in place already&#8230;although it is likely we need a few more in anticipation of increased districts in each state beginning the journey. Below is a list of networks we know about. <i>Please let us know if there are others that should be added to the list.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reinventingschools.org\/about\/risc-associates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reinventing Schools Coalition<\/a> is a network of schools. They are all developing around the RISC model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Digital Promise\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalpromise.org\/league\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">League of Innovative Schools<\/a> has started a network of districts that have already begun to implement blended learning, and that now want to build the competency-based structure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inacol.org\/symposium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iNACOL Symposium<\/a> has a strand on competency education. It\u2019s not an organized network &#8230;.but its probably the best place to find and meet others working on competency education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatschoolspartnership.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Great Schools Partnership<\/a> and its affiliated networks New England Secondary Schools Consortium and League of Innovative Schools can be very helpful in networking within NE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mainecustomizedlearning.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maine Cohort for Customized Learning<\/a> is a network of districts that have been working together for about five years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more-->State education agencies can play a vital role in helping to create regional networks. For example, Colorado Department of Education is organizing cohorts of networks to learn from other districts and each other. Once districts are in a network, it&#8217;s easy to imagine starting to bring networks of networks together.<\/p>\n<p>If you can\u2019t join a network, there are a few opportunities for training, including\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marzanoresearch.com\/competency-based-education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marzano Research Labs<\/a>\/RISC and the competency education design studio that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/web.sau17.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sanborn Regional School District<\/a> is offering this summer, or organized site visits to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lindsay.k12.ca.us\/departments\/CI\/page\/visiting-districts.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lindsay Unified<\/a>.
