It includes tough decisions and helpful resources in six key areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Academics:\u00a0<\/strong>Faculty and curriculum development and factors influencing program offerings and quality<\/li>\n<li><strong>Budget:\u00a0<\/strong>Business model, funding sources, and factors critical to success<\/li>\n<li><strong>Communications:\u00a0<\/strong>Building stakeholder relationships<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enrollment Management and Technology:\u00a0<\/strong>Student services and back-office operations<\/li>\n<li><strong>Metrics:\u00a0<\/strong>Defining and measuring student and program success<\/li>\n<li><strong>Policy:\u00a0<\/strong>Policies impacting direct assessment CBE models<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>New reports include: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The American Academy of Arts &amp; Science released a new report: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amacad.org\/content\/publications\/publication.aspx?d=22786\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Complex Universe of Alternative Postsecondary Credentials and Pathways<\/a><\/em>, which notes that some new programs have bridged skills and employment gaps, but more data collection and quality assurance efforts are needed (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/education-news\/articles\/2017-07-21\/are-moocs-bootcamps-and-other-alternative-education-options-effective\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">as noted in this U.S. News &amp; World Report article<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>The American Council on Education (ACE) released a new report: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acenet.edu\/news-room\/Documents\/Instructional-Quality-Student-Outcomes-and-Institutional-Finances.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instructional Quality, Student Outcomes, and Institutional Finances<\/a><\/em>, which explores the question of whether improvements in instructional quality can increase a postsecondary institution\u2019s net revenue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>New report findings include: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.educationdive.com\/news\/data-shows-decades-dramatic-shift-in-profile-of-typical-college-student\/446723\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Education Dive reports<\/a> that recent surveys of higher education highlight a dramatic shift in the \u2018typical college student\u2019 over the past ten years, with colleges now enrolling older students on non-traditional pathways, calling for IHE to adapt to the changing demographics through competency-based education programs.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/rpkgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/rpkgroup_iPASS_whitepaper-Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A recent report<\/a> found that colleges could earn about $1 million annually if they increased student retention. <a href=\"https:\/\/edtechmagazine.com\/higher\/article\/2017\/07\/better-retention-could-boost-annual-college-profits-1-million-study-finds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This article<\/a> points to the benefits of adopting new strategies and using data analytics to provide better student experiences while boosting graduation rates.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/higher-education\/short-courses-shortchange-students-says-asqa\/news-story\/a4021330a9c2db79b98aecfbd937f5b5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">report for the Australian Skills Quality Authority<\/a> found that&#8221; in competency-based training systems there are still circumstances in which mandating duration is seen as
