{"id":8788,"date":"2019-01-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-30T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aurora-institute.org\/resource\/inacol-2019-federal-policy-priorities\/"},"modified":"2022-11-03T14:29:38","modified_gmt":"2022-11-03T18:29:38","slug":"inacol-2019-federal-policy-priorities","status":"publish","type":"resource","link":"https:\/\/aurora-institute.org\/resource\/inacol-2019-federal-policy-priorities\/","title":{"rendered":"iNACOL 2019 Federal Policy Priorities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This brief provides analysis of federal policy changes needed toward a long-range vision to transform education and ensure our nation\u2019s education systems prepare all students with the skills necessary to achieve success, contribute to their communities and advance society. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our policy priorities are intentionally constructed to support future-focused states and localities moving forward from their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inacol.org\/resource\/current-future-state-issues-action-steps-state-policy-support-personalized-competency-based-learning\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">current state of education to future systems<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that are equity-driven and ensure that every student will experience a prosperous, just and successful future. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For federal leaders, the 2019 policy priorities are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Launch a pilot program in the reauthorization of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.ed.gov\/policy\/highered\/leg\/hea08\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Higher Education Act<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to support innovation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remove barriers for states in ESSA Section 1204 (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inacol.org\/news\/u-s-department-of-education-invites-state-applications-for-a-new-pilot-on-innovative-systems-of-assessments\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Innovative Assessment Pilot<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">);<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Support continued expansion of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inacol.org\/news\/build-robust-technology-infrastructure-and-improve-broadband-to-expand-educational-opportunity\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Internet access, wifi and broadband infrastructure<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Target funding within the reauthorized <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/115th-congress\/senate-bill\/3217\/text?r=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perkins Career and Technical Education Act<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to encourage alignment to postsecondary programs and pathways.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This brief provides analysis of federal policy changes needed toward a long-range vision to transform education and&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8790,"template":"","issue":[384,61,63,386,455,397],"organizations":[36],"resource_topics":[145],"resource_types":[7],"class_list":["post-8788","resource","type-resource","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","issue-harness-opportunities-in-essa-federal-policy","issue-federal-policy","issue-modernize-hea","issue-increase-access-to-broadband","issue-leverage-career-technical-education","issue-create-space-to-pilot-systems-of-assessments","organizations-inacol","resource_topics-policy","resource_types-issue-brief"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
