If we want all young people to grow up feeling a sense of belonging, community, and agency, we need to change how we approach civic education. This panel will discuss the emerging model of learning ecosystems, in which schools, museums, and community institutions collaborate to create real-world learning experiences that not only provide students with essential skills for employment, but make them feel included and inspired to become active change makers.

Session Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand the learning science behind place-based learning.
  2. Understand the impact of place-based learning on equity and access.
  3. Examine models for engaging museums as partners in creating personalized learning opportunities.
