Highlander Institute has developed a new tool to understand non-academic student outcomes – the Student Experience Survey (SES). The SES uncovers gaps between student and teacher perceptions and unintentional teacher bias, and highlights critical areas – such as academic mindset, sense of belonging, and critical consciousness – for intentional development in the classroom. Initial administrations of the SES have provided teachers and leaders with unprecedented insights and actionable data.

Session Learning Outcomes:

  1. Leave the session with an understanding of the Student Experience Survey.
  2. Learn key takeaways from our initial survey administration.
  3. Learn how SES data is being used in partner schools to support instructional shifts and student growth.
