Our Influence
To navigate a future, which few of us can imagine today, we have to move from tweaking around the edges to examining the structures and root causes of inequity in our education and society. We are a nonprofit change agent with a mission to drive the transformation of education systems and accelerate the advancement of breakthrough policies and practices to ensure high-quality learning for all. Driving this transformation, the Aurora Institute is poised as a national systems influencer advancing innovation and continuous improvement across K-12 education.
We remove barriers in policy and work with lawmakers to enable flexibility in approaches and expand competency-based pathways for learning inside and outside school walls, ensuring all students develop mastery of the highest competencies to reach their full potential.
We conduct research to highlight best practices for education innovations and personalized learning, and we serve as a network hub embracing innovation. Our work is shifting mindsets of what is possible for the future of education. We are sparking and leading conversations about the purpose of education and the definition of student success.
Our history of trusted thought leadership, consciousness-raising and advocacy, and forward-thinking presence in the field goes hand-in-glove with our ethic for collaboration. We work with multiple stakeholder groups in a concerted effort to bring about this change, including policymakers, media, educators and school leaders, districts and charter schools, philanthropy, researchers, higher education, workforce, providers and national advocacy organizations, as well as state and local organizations.
We believe we are at the tipping point of dramatic change in K-12 education. Thirst for better outcomes for all learners is high, and the contagion of bold ideas about the purpose and potential of public education is sweeping the halls of statehouses, across innovative learning spaces of modernized classrooms, and in homes across the globe. We pledge to continue to activate levers of change to live out our nation’s highest calling and fortify this most sacred of democratic institutions.
