Strategies to ensure equity for all students must be embedded in the culture, structure, and pedagogy of schools and education systems.

Summary

Equity is a central goal of advancing competency-based education systems. Our vision for educational equity is a fair and just system in which every student is challenged and supported and achieves deep learning aligned with common, high expectations across the education system. To achieve educational equity, we must overcome the history of bigotry and discrimination that has shaped institutions, including our K-12 education system and that continues to do so today. This requires committing to equity strategies that change the culture, structure, and pedagogy of schools and education systems. These strategies are described in the Aurora Institute’s Designing for Equity report and other resources below.
