iNACOL Webinar Features Assessment Literacy to Support Competency Education and Deeper Learning
Washington, D.C. (May 25, 2017) – On Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET, the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) will be hosting a Leadership webinar on assessment literacy to support competency-based education systems and other deeper learning efforts.
Assessment literacy is conceptualized as the knowledge and skills associated with designing, selecting, interpreting and using high-quality assessments to improve student learning. It is an essential component of successful teaching and learning, and it lays the groundwork for building teacher capacity in K-12 personalized, competency-based education systems.
Beyond using assessments in their classrooms, assessment literate educators should be equipped to deal with an onslaught of data from large-scale state assessments, interim assessments, local district- or school-wide assessments, and classroom-based assessments. Join noted assessment experts Scott Marion and Lorrie Shephard in this webinar to discuss ways to promote assessment literacy in general, and within competency-based education systems more specifically.
iNACOL CEO Susan Patrick said, “In the United States, education experts and policy leaders could well benefit from studying assessment literacy in competency-based education systems to promote deeper learning by students. Let’s create a national conversation around assessments for learning and assessment literacy to build capacity for advanced systems of education designed for student success.”
This webinar is free to attend — participants are invited to register here for final details and login information.
