State Policy, Create Enabling Conditions for Competency-Based Education
Promising State Policies to Enable and Scale Personalized Learning
What are the promising state policies to scale and enable personalized learning? How can policymakers develop and advance a coordinated set of policies that suits their state’s unique policy landscape and education system?
The passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) presents a historic opportunity for states to align policy environments to advance powerful, personalized learning experiences for all students. A recent iNACOL report, Promising State Policies for Personalized Learning, highlights specific state examples of promising policies that create room for student-centered learning to close persistent equity and learning gaps.
In this webinar, co-hosted by iNACOL and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), the presenters discuss policy opportunities and specific state examples that other states can look to in crafting their own legislation. Education leaders in other states can replicate these state policy examples to remove barriers and support conditions that optimize learning for each student’s needs—both inside and outside the classroom walls.
Speakers:
- Maria Worthen, Vice President for Federal and State Policy, iNACOL
- Dale Frost, State Policy Director, iNACOL
- Susan Gentz, Policy Manager, iNACOL
- Sunny Deye, Program Principal, Education Program, National Conference of State Legislatures
