iNACOL Announces New Webinar: “Implementing District Blended and Online Learning Programs”

(VIENNA, Va.) – The International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) will host a webinar on Wednesday, May 9 demonstrating how K-12 school districts are implementing blended and online learning programs.

“The Department of Education estimates that 55 percent of all U.S. schools are offering some type of online or blended learning program, and about 1.8 million K-12 students are enrolled in online courses,” said Susan Patrick, President and CEO of iNACOL. “Online learning can offer students access to the best teachers regardless of where they live. New blended online learning programs are using great teachers with engaging digital content to reimagine how a student learns and how teachers teach. Exploring these innovative programs provides an opportunity for school districts to maximize resources and to provide better student access to the highest quality teachers.”

The webinar will focus on a case study presented by Jefferson County Public Schools (Jeffco) in Golden, Colo. – the largest school district in the state – which has been able to build comprehensive and successful blended and online learning programs while also ensuring teacher and student success. Webinar presenter Judy Bauernschmidt, Director of Student Online Learning at Jeffco, will provide information about the district’s blended learning and online program implementations. She will also focus on professional development for teachers – more than 500 of whom have now been certified in blended-model and online instruction.

The webinar will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM Eastern. For more information and to register, please visit: http://www.inacol.org/events/webinar/index.php
