Students, advisory teachers, and coaches will share their experiences of the International Big Picture Learning Credential (IBPLC). In this new system, a shift toward competency-based assessment, students are not ranked against others, but are evaluated in terms of what they know, value, can do, or demonstrate, in and out of school, and over time. Students graduate with a meaningful, personalized credential that can be shared with prospective employers and further education providers.

Session Learning Outcomes:

  1. Recognize the role of student agency in authentic assessment practices.
  2. Articulate how the IBPLC is designed to capture and measure a broader array of student capacities, experiences, and strengths than traditional assessment regimes.
  3. Reflect on the experiences of others and relate this to your own context to identify opportunities to redesign your approach to assessment.
