In a CBE model, one of the goals is to decouple time from the learning. This creates an opportunity to rethink how you track and measure mastery. For many schools and districts, traditional reporting requirements create barriers to this work. What does it look like to transparently track competency progress and growth within and across learning experiences? In this session, you will learn about Building 21’s unique approach to this problem within and outside of traditional systems.

Session Learning Outcomes:

  1. Access the Building 21 Competency Framework and learn how progressions are used to assess student work.
  2. Learn about how Building 21 uses a mix of technologies to integrate data across systems to create dashboards for all stakeholders.
  3. Engage with actual student dashboards called PLP’s and learn how CBE data is converted to traditional grades and credits or a mastery transcript.
