A radical commitment to equity is the missing link in current education research and development (R&D) efforts. Inclusive Innovation is an overarching framework that authentically places underrepresented voices at the center of the innovation ecosystem and leverages their lived experience and expertise to influence research in relevant and practical ways. Within this session, we will highlight key problems, and share our lessons learned, of practice emerging from our experiences designing and implementing this model.

Session Learning Outcomes:

  1. Learn how Inclusive Innovation centers education R&D in a radical commitment to equity to meet the needs of marginalized populations with the highest impact solutions.
  2. Understand the stages and equity-first practices that form the foundation across all stages of the model.
  3. Share strategies to co-design a research and development process that understands educational equity challenges at their root.
